This year, Dr. Ava Gilani along with Dr. Christine Lee and Dr. Megan Franke (PI) are launching a research project investigating how students’ feelings and dispositions can be an essential tool for learning and developing confidence and persistence in mathematics. The research will take place in all Intermediate classrooms during the Winter quarter, and include observation notes, photos of students’ work during math class, and audio recorded student interviews. Interviews will be 10 minutes and ask students to share what they did during math, and how they felt while working on a problem. Participation in this study is voluntary and will remain confidential. Any questions about the project can be directed to Dr. Megan Franke (PI) mfranke@ucla.edu , Dr. Ava Gilani, agilani@labschool.ucla.edu or Dr. Christine Lee, christinelee@seis.ucla.edu
