This year, Dr. Christine Lee and Dr. Megan Franke will collaborate with Upper II Demonstration Teachers Lorrie Cariaga and Jennifer Williams to investigate the impact of youth-led research. This year, Upper II students will cultivate a community greenhouse for the Lab School community. As a part of this work, Upper II teachers will support student-led research investigations on the community greenhouse throughout the school year. The study aims to document and examine how Upper II students engaged in youth-led research learn about the environment and empower themselves as caretakers of our Earth over time. The research will include: audio recordings of classroom conversations, photocopies of classroom artifacts, and photos of students working on the community greenhouse. Any questions about the project can be directed to Dr. Christine Lee at clee@labschool.ucla.edu or Dr. Megan Franke, Director of CONNECT Research at mfranke@ucla.edu.
Upper students give a presentation to EC2 teachers about activities for their students to learn about greenhouses
